I'm not really sure where to start, so I will just highlight the goings on of the last few months. I feel obligated to start with a cute little anecdote from my journey to Denver. Mom and Auntie were kind enough to fly out to LA and make the drive from socal to mile high. In the rear wheel drive short bus that was my Xterra. In a snowstorm. Through the mountains. Mom was even kind enough to fill my gas tank to start off the trip...with diesel gasoline. If you haven't tried this yet, its a blast. A lot like riding one of those mechanical bulls at a bar. Definitely doesn't do a whole lot for the engine, but provides plenty of laughs at family dinners. Mom, you will never live this down. After a quick pit stop in Vegas, we trekked through a few inches of snow on I-70. I get a little squeamish driving on I-70 on a summer day during a drought. After sunset during a raging snowstorm, I'm just about ready to drive us off the nearest 300 foot cliff. With my cheering squad telling me how brave and calm I am, we arrive safely in Denver just in time to drop the passengers off at DIA for their redeye flight. Thank you Mom and Auntie.
Since then I have applied for a billion jobs. Interviewed for a few. And I have been hired by even fewer. I landed a peds home care RN position which has been pretty awesome. No benefits and a huge pay cut from SD, but a great experience anyway. I was recently hired by the Children's Hospital to work in their Emergency dept at a satellite location in St Joe's hospital in Denver. Its part time with benefits and better pay than home care. Starting Tuesday I'm working full time at my current job and training at my new job. Marc, I'll see you in August!
In other news, Marc and I decided that one pet Gato wasn't enough and adopted little Ruthie. She is our tiny little St Bernard/Lab puppy. And by tiny, I mean she consumes more calories per day than Marc and me combined, and has grown 12ish lbs in 4 weeks. She is the sweetest little pup and is teaching us all about life. Mainly by pooping on the floor despite our best efforts at housetraining. Its like a trial run at having a child. Could maybe even be considered a reliable form of birth control. More seriously, she really is the best thing that's happened to us lately and I don't know what we'd be doing without her here.
We have had lots of visitors in the few months since we moved here. Each group brought their own adventure and experiences and I have enjoyed all the mini staycations very much. This does not, however, make up for how much I miss home and all my friends all over the country. Can't wait to see you again. Yes you.
Thanks for reading. If you stick with me, I might get better as this.
